BON APPETIT!

There's a book Caleb loves called, "I Love You, Stinky Face," in which a boy asks his mama if she would love him if he were different characters, including an alien. She responds by saying that if he were an alien she would pack his lunch filled with ants and bugs, and she leaves him a note that says, "Bon Appetit!" I say it in a Julia Child-esque style that leaves Caleb in hysterics. Here's a video right after we read the book:

Miscellaneous Happenings in January 2010

ANGELINA AND THE JACKET:

Here's a pretty common dialogue at Little Steps Daycare...

Theresa (Caleb's teacher): Caleb, time to put your jacket on.

Caleb: No.

Mama: Caleb, time to go. Let's get your jacket on.

Caleb: NO!

Angelina (Caleb's 3-year old friend): Caleb, you have to put your jacket on!

Caleb (begrudgingly): Okaaayyy.

Angelina keeps a tight leash on the little man, and every day she puts his jacket and hat on. She's the only one he'll listen to! On the day I took this video she kept bending down to zip up the jacket, but every time she bent down he bent down as well! It made for an interesting few minutes

WAITING FOR PAPA IN THE CAR:

HANGING OUT IN PAPA'S CLASSROOM:

Each day I drop Caleb and Jonathan at Jonathan's school, ELLIS Academy, where they wait to bring Caleb to school at 8 am. One morning I went in with them to help Jonathan, and I saw Caleb's new balancing act:

DRUMMING & DANCING:

These videos were taken at Mama's school during the International Festival. It's a time when teachers and students celebrate the cultural diversity at our school through dancing, singing, and eating, and this year I joined in the festivities!

WATCHING THE PATRIOTS END THEIR 2009 - 2010 SEASON:

Someday he'll understand what a sad moment this was.

BEING TICKLED BY RALPH AND ALF:

A Shank family tradition...

CELEBRATING VALENTINES DAY:

Caleb had a fun Valentine's weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Shank, Aunts Carolyn and Jodie, and Uncle Colin. On Sunday he made a Valentine's display with Grandma while everyone else was at the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA.

WALKING WITH PAPA AND HELPING HIM WITH THE HEAVY BAG:

Gymnastics

While Caleb loves the museum, he also needs a place where he can run around and he's ENCOURAGED to climb on things. Welcome to the Uptown Sports Complex, home of batting cages, gymnastics, and just about any sport you could want for your child.

And no, there's no golf. Why? IT'S NOT A SPORT! Sorry, grandpa... :)

Choppin' Broccolaahhhh

I was chopping broccoli for a stir fry one evening, when Caleb asked me what I was doing. Taking the perfect opportunity to educate my two year old on the brilliance of Dana Carvey and his former SNL performances, I belted out, "Choppppping Brocolahhhhhhhhh!" He thought that was the most hysterical thing he'd ever heard so I decided to show him the actual performance. Two weeks later he's still addicted to watching it and other Carvey legendary skits.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about (or even if you do and just want to laugh hysterically one more time), click on the following You Tube link:

Now that you know what I'm talking about, here's Caleb watching it:

And here he is a few days later watching the same thing - notice where his feet are!
