Like any smart one year-old, Caleb tried to maximize the amount of presents received and sugar consumed within a 24-hour period. (Unfortunately for him, his momma was keeping a close eye on the latter.) Caleb had 2 birthday parties - one at daycare and one at his grandparents' house with lots of family and friends. These were special occasions not only to celebrate the 365 days that Caleb has lived as a non-Olive, but for people to see him WALK! A few weeks ago he took his first few consecutive steps, and those few consecutive steps have since turned into motoring around the house. We can barely keep up with him now, especially because he's so anxious to get out of his room and stretch his stride. There have been times that he's looked at us as if to say, "Mama, Papa - playing in my room is like soooo 2 weeks ago. I want to EXPLORE!"
Happy Birthday Caleb. Mama and Papa love you very much. You'll always be our little man.
Don't worry. We didn't chop them ALL off. Just a little around the sides.
The day after Caleb's first birthday we went to get his hair cut. But this wasn't just any old haircut. This was a special appointment with Ken Major, the hairdresser that cut my hair for over 10 years, and who still currently cuts my mom's and dad's hair. We're talking 3 generations here! Check it out:
Here's a video that our friend Margarita took during brunch a few weeks ago. You may not be able to hear it, but there's a live jazz band playing in the background. Caleb danced the whole time!
