5 months old

Before I show you pictures of Caleb I'm going to tell you a little bit about how Jonathan and I are doing.

Wait a minute...WHO??

Leah and Jonathan! You know, the unimportant, easily forgotten parents. To some, we are simply known as "the means by which Caleb's pictures get posted to the blog." But we've accepted our fate and I'm going to tell you about us anyway!

Jonathan has been on paternity leave since April 1st, and he's loving every minute of it. He has taught Caleb how to bake bread, build a coffee table, and use a Wakasashi sword...all in 6 weeks! He's testing for his blackbelt in June and is training pretty intensely for it. We recently got a running stroller (Happy Birthday dear Jonathan) so now Jonathan and Caleb can BOTH leave me in the dust on a run.

Work keeps me busy enough during the day so I don't think about exactly how much I miss being away from Caleb, which is a relief. I love coming home and bursting into the living room because Caleb gives me a big smile and a whole lot of drool. I still have a month and a half left of school, but having a few daylight hours with Caleb in the park makes the whole day worth it.

Okay, okay, enough of us. Caleb went to the doctor today and he's almost 17 pounds! He's rolling over a lot now, and continues to smile and laugh. The biggest change he's going through now is that he's talking. He doesn't say complete sentences, but gives phrases like "Guggenheim museum" and "Chubby hubby" to suggest things that he wants to do or eat. In all seriousness though, he's started to babble and put syllables together in a typical "goo goo, ga ga" fashion. I heard that there's an attachment for an ipod that you can get to record sound - I'll see what I can manage so you all can hear him.

And now, on to the pictures...

Holy papa!

That's Jonathan when he's 5 months old. And that's Caleb now that he's 5 months old. Anyone know how to spell "carbon copy?"
