Look who's TWO!

It's been a long time since I updated the blog, and in between stuffing ourselves for 3 weeks straight and having wrapping paper start to come out of our ears, Caleb turned TWO! Here are some current Caleb-isms:

* He LOVES to dance. He came to an International Festival at my school and during one of the African drumming performances a dance teacher took him and put him up on stage. He just started dancing to the music in front of an audience of students and teachers. I was laughing and crying too hard to get a video!

* Whenever we go to pick him up from school, or if we're seeing him for the first time that day, he says in a squeaky voice, "It's good to SEE you!"

* Here are some of his favorite books: City Night (by Eve Rice), Strega Nona (Tomie de Paola), Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? (Eric Carle), Inch By Inch, From Head To Toe (Eric Carle) and In November.

* He loves to brush his teeth with his new electric toothbrush. He calles toothpaste "poo-tate"

* He kisses anything with fur, especially our cats Finn and Nellie who do their best to avoid it.

* The boy's got rhythm! He plays my djembe drum, the maracas, and bangs on the piano. (Videos will be on their way soon.)

* He's very interested in the existence of the toilet. We have a little bamboo training seat that fits over the regular seat, and he loves to put in on the toilet, undress so he's completely naked (including his socks), and sit on the toilet. Now, if only he knew what to do once he got there...

* He's now in a regular bed with the crib bars on only the far side - the front side is open. When it's time for bed he says, "Sleepy Boy, Sleepy Mama" and we go lie on the bed together.

* He can work an iphone with more ease than I can. With the help of a few fun apps he's spelling animal words in French and English. He also likes watching all of the videos that I've put on the blog. He does that a lot in the morning when we're getting ready for school.

* He's teaching me Spanish. Here's what I've learned from him so far: Come (KO-may): Eat. Toma (TO-ma): Take. Mira (MEE-ra): Look. There are a few more, but I don't know how to spell them.

* He has a little MP3 player called the Sweet Pea - I HIGHLY recommend it for little people - with a pretty eclectic playlist. Some of his favorite songs are: Blister In the Sun (by the Violent Femmes), Psycho Killer (Talking Heads), Majek Fashek In A New York (Majek Fashek), House At Pooh Corner (Loggins & Messina), Don't Stop Me Now (Queen), Summertime (Sublime), and Dance the Night Away (Van Halen).

Here are some pictures - more will be coming soon!
