Jonathan marvels at how the McConaughey family designates nicknames. As he says, "When I was young my parents gave me a nickname and they called me that nickname until I was older." Not so simple in the McConaughey family. You may have noticed that in the last posting I called Caleb "Nuni." Here's how that began...
30 years ago my cousin Daniel was born, but my sister (his older cousin by a year) couldn't say Daniel so she called him "nunu." From that point on my parents started referring to babies as nunus, but when Caleb was born he became The Nunu. From there the nickname underwent several changes, including:
Mr. Nu
Monsieur Le Nu
Mr. The Nu
Nuni
Nunes
Nunesy Dunes
If it were up to Jonathan we would all just call him Caleb.
How boring. :)
