34 Weeks - the final stretch!

This week someone in school said to me, "Wow! Your belly just keeps getting bigger and bigger!" She looked at me and smiled like she had just broken some news I hadn't heard yet. I responded, "Yep. That's kind of how the whole 'pregnancy' thing works!" I know that sometimes I have mush for brains, but give me a break!

Here is an updated picture of the belly at 34 weeks. (For those of you who are unsure, my belly WILL keep getting bigger and bigger, and then once that boy is born, hopefully it will get smaller and smaller!) If you look closely, you can see my belly button has started to pop out a little bit. Do you know that they actually sell a contraption that is supposed to hide your belly button when you're pregnant? It looks like a big band-aid. It's funny that women would buy something like that. They've got this big ole' belly that's no big deal, but as soon as their belly button, which takes up about 1/1000 the size of the actual belly, starts to pop, they need to cover it up.

The baby keeps moving around a lot, but since he's big he can't really kick anymore, so he just pushes a lot. Jonathan says that's because he's out of his 'karate' phase and into his 'tai chi' phase. He has also started hiccuping every now and again. It feels like he's poking me in the belly button with his pointer finger, almost like he's saying, "Hey signorina, can we get some food down here pronto por favori?

I was just reading the Sports Illustrated article about the Patriots (who are on the cover this week after beating the Colts on Sunday in a game that still has my heart pounding). I was thinking how cool it will be to watch the next Colts' game with the Little Olive Dude...then I thought, baby...Patriots...Leah and Jonathan gave me Patriots baby booties this summer!! (see Leah's blog of August 23rd). Well, I knew I put the booties in a special/safe place, but where the hex are they? I went searching through the bedroom, trying to be quiet and not wake Edie, but those darn dresser drawers have a way of not cooperating. It couldn't wait until morning because you never know if that little munchkin's going to say "it's the bye week in the Patriots' schedule, which is good timing and Mom and Dad are heading for Rhode Island this weekend" but he knows it's way too early and way too warm and comfortable where he is. So yes I did find them and they will stay out in plain sight until I can slip them on those tiny feet when he's ready to wear them. But I have to keep the booties in the package in case Finn and Nellie show up and claim them as their own and play paw football with them. Now it's back to finishing the article. Sweet dreams, Little Olive Dude.

It's amazing! My belly is the same size and I can't see my belly button or anything else for that matter!

Love you
