Here is an updated picture of my belly at 28 weeks. I can still see my feet, but tying my sneakers has become an all-day affair!
Our good friends Kate and Adam were recently in town with their one year-old daughter, Ella. We went into a store called "Kid O" in the West Village where I noticed the most adorable, rather mopey-looking hen tucked away in the corner. (Grandma, don't you love it!?) I went up to Jonathan and uttered a phrase for the first time that I'm sure will become my mantra for motherhood: "This is so cute. I just HAVE to buy this for our little boy." Jonathan put his hands to his head and said with exasperation, "Oh god. Let the spending begin." Therefore, in the spirit of consumerism on behalf of the unborn, I decided to dedicate this entire blog posting to a few of the items 'I just had to buy' over the past few months.
Go ahead. I dare you to say they're not cute!

Little Olive Dude - Those sneakers are so cute. One day I'll tell you how your Mom and Auntie Merin never beat me in a running race (I knew when to stop racing just after they got out of kindergarten). It was well before your Dad had a chance to challenge me, a race that would have given me a great view of the back of his head. Make room in your crib for lots of fun things. That cuddly hen is just the beginning. P.S. The Patriots look as good as ever. They play the Steelers on December 9th. Maybe you want to watch the game with me :-)
As the saying goes - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I think some of the most important shopping trips are coming up. It's too bad that stores like "Liss" and "Miss Liss" are no longer around so I could show you how to play under the racks of clothes, pull the clothes down from the racks onto the floor and run around like your mom would do with Auntie Erin, Auntie Jenny and Uncle David.
I do have some equally cool tricks I can teach you - all to help your parents go a little nuts. Love, G'eed.
I love the Green Eggs and Ham tshirt! So cute!!!
I just love the little Puma sneakers - I can picture it now, mom, dad, and Baby Mcconaughey entering next year's NYC Marathon!
Oh, and add to your shopping list... Lots'n'lotsa diapers!!! Along with all the cutsie things you "just have to have!"
Time may be at a snail's pace now, but it'll all be worth the wait once the little one arrives. The trek to and from work at 28+ weeks pregnant are but a distant memory! I'm lucky if I remember my phone number correctly.Look foward to more..
